Recession-Plagued Nation Demands New Bubble To Invest In | The Onion – America’s Finest News Source

WASHINGTON—A panel of top business leaders testified before Congress about the worsening recession Monday, demanding the government provide Americans with a new irresponsible and largely illusory economic bubble in which to invest.

“What America needs right now is not more talk and long-term strategy, but a concrete way to create more imaginary wealth in the very immediate future,” said Thomas Jenkins, CFO of the Boston-area Jenkins Financial Group, a bubble-based investment firm….

According to investment experts, now that the option of making millions of dollars in a short time with imaginary profits from bad real-estate deals has disappeared, the need for another spontaneous make-believe source of wealth has never been more urgent.

“Perhaps the new bubble could have something to do with watching movies on cell phones,” said investment banker Greg Carlisle of the New York firm Carlisle, Shaloe & Graves. “Or, say, medicine, or shipping. Or clouds….

“The U.S. economy cannot survive on sound investments alone,” Carlisle added.”

That’s funny! But it’s true! What would we invest in that’s concrete and tangible unless we build our own houses? Everything else is being made overseas. We have so much regulation you could not make something stateside unless you had millions of dollars, and then you could not compete with China…… we are succumbing to our own plans.

I think you are right: it’s true… that’s why it’s funny. The latest round of real estate bubble mania, like the tech bubble that preceded it, manufactured billions of imaginary dollars out of nothing of substance… too bad there are so few returns from investing in US capacity to actually produce physical products…

This time I would like to know what the bubble will be before it pops! I’m always behind. Obviously I missed the oil commodities bubble, now just hoping it will pop like all the others. Maybe it’s here to stay because “common folk” are not the ones making money. There is no justifiable reason for a 100% increase in energy prices in a little over a year. The powers that be do not like it when their slaves are liberated. I personally think that’s the real reason behind the mary jane raids locally, when there are so much more debilitating and destructive businesses with government approval (like gaming, pharmaceutical companies, and yes even alcohol). But they don’t have control and can’t make money. InBev just bought a beer company (An..Busch) for $3+ Billion dollars!
